Incitement To Murder: Supreme Haredi Rabbinic Leader Tells Followers Yair Lapid Is Amalek

It is incitement to murder.
This Shabbat, Jews will read the Torah portion that contains the story of Amalek, the biblical archenemy of the Israelites and the paradigm for all enemies of the Jewish people since then.
Jews are commanded to remember what the biblical nation of Amalek tried to do to the Jews. Jews are also commanded to wipe out Amalek.
In rabbinic literature, that has been carried further, and enemies of the Jewish people from the biblical Haman to Adolph Hitler are seen as descendants of Amalek.
And now, so is Israel’s Finance Minister Yair Lapid.
Supreme Ashkenazi haredi leader Rabbi Aharon Leib Shteinman has now ordered haredim to have Lapid in their thoughts as they read the words ordering Jews to wipe out Amalek, Ynet reported.
Shteinman is not the first haredi rabbi to make this comparison, but he is the first to do so and to explicitly link it to wiping out Lapid.
The Torah section of Amalek is read twice each year, once related to Purim that fulfills the mitzvah (divine command) to remember Amalek and to pledge to wipe him out if he can be identified. The second as part of the normal Torah reading cycle and can serve as a make-up reading for the first under some circumstances. Because next year is a leap year in the Jewish calendar, and Jews would therefore go more than 12 lunar months without fulfilling that mitzvah, according to some halakhic opinions, Saturday’s reading should be used to fulfill the mitzvah of remembering Amalek and pledging to wipe him out, as well.
Shteinman also reportedly told his followers to think of Lapid and of Minister of Education Rabbi Shai Piron when they say Birkat HaMinim, which is said three times every weekday during the Amidah prayer, the most important prayer said by Jews.
One version of Birkat HaMinim reads: “…And let the arrogant government be speedily uprooted in our days. Let the notẓerim [idol worshippers; Christians] and the minim [Jewish sectarians; Jewish Christians] be destroyed in a moment. And let them be blotted out of the Book of Life and not be inscribed together with the righteous.…"
