Yiddish-language flyers in Borough Park call for the murder of Rabbi Avram Slonim, who heads one of the two housing projects to be built on the same plot in the Jerusalem bedroom suburb of Beit Shemesh. Haredim from the Asra Kadisha organization believe there are ancient Jewish graves at the site that are being desecrated – a contention many haredi rabbis, including a small number from Edah Haredit, Asra Kadisha's parent organization, disagree with.
Hundreds of haredim rioted at the site four days last week and almost 40 haredim were arrested.
The overall developer of the site, an elderly man in 70s, was savagely beaten in his Jerusalem home almost two weeks ago by a haredigang allegedly linked to Asra Kadisha.
Neither of the Satmar Rebbes, whose hasidim play an outsized role in Edah Haredit-related thuggery, have condemned the violence or the flyer.
