"…We ask you respectfully: How can you have a hand in such an act?! How can you have a hand in closing down a Shul, even from a Jewish point of view before hearing both sides SHOMOIA BEIN ACHEICHEM?! It just makes us wonder, did they offer you a big amount for your campaign? Did they bribe you with false information that they will be voting for you? while its known to everyone that by the last elections they officially worked against you!…"
This letter was allgedly sent to haredi New York City Councilman David Greenfield yesterday. The basis for this fight is the larger fight for control of the large Williamsburg Armory building between the two Satmar factions and the fight for control of four Satmar summer camps upstate. Note that they spelled his name incorrectly:

Dear David,
I'm a member of the Satmar community in Williamsburg under the leadership of the Grand Rabbi R'Zalmen Leib Shlita.
It got to the community that you are helping out R' Aron's people to hurt us regarding our Synagogue located at 540 Bedford Ave.
Its hard for us to believe so, since we never did anything to hurt you, the only thing we DID do for you was helping elect you, as you are well aware that UJO helped and supported you to build your career.
You know very well that we used the Shul on Bedford Ave. for years and the Ahroinim know this as well.
They also know that they will never get this Shul for themselves, All they want is that NOT THEM and NOT US.
We were shocked to hear that you arranged last week a meeting between Mayoral candidate Quinn and the Ahroinim where she was asked very explicitly to lock down our Shul.
We ask you respectfully: How can you have a hand in such an act?!
How can you have a hand in closing down a Shul, even from a Jewish point of view before hearing both sides SHOMOIA BEIN ACHEICHEM?!
It just makes us wonder, did they offer you a big amount for your campaign? Did they bribe you with false information that they will be voting for you? while its known to everyone that by the last elections they officially worked against you!
We are not operating like the other side does when people are in their way, but now its time to stick up for our rights and we are here to inform you that WE WILL stick up for our rights!
Our community here in Williamsburg ALONE has over 5800 Members, 13,000 kids in the school and 1500 Yeshiva boys.
We can't believe that you - besides that fact of being an honest politician - but also a Frum Yid should go for that NOT US and NOT YOU tactic. You are announcing a war with a whole community that was always here to help you and plan to do so in the future.
We won't discuss the fact which party brings out more votes in the Williamsburg elections, you know that very well, and you even declared once that the Zaloinim party in Williamsburg are unbeatable, So make the calculations, is it worth the price to fight a entire community?
Its obvious to all that the reason why the Aroinim went to an out of Williamsburg politician is because the local politicians know that they are a small percentage here.
In fact, in Boro Park we didn't have the chance yet to prove it but we will iy"h do so to prove what a nice percent we got there as well.
We would like you to tell them like all other politicians did: keep me out of your filthy work. But please first FIX your mess first!
The situation we have now with the Shul is a matter of time. We struggled in the past with worse situations than this, but the fact has been proven over and over that who ever hurts so many people paid their price.
We hope you understand our peaceful and respectful request, and we await you to react in the same manner.
