Israel’s Finance Minister Yair Lapid met earlier this week with two leaders in Israel’s construction industry, who told him serious manpower shortages they are facing, Yeshiva World reported.
Lapid reportedly suggested they reach out to haredim to fill some of those open jobs, pointing out that the government’s recent decision to change eligibility criteria for government subsidized housing will force many haredim to get jobs.
The construction industry representatives reportedly told Lapid that they are in the process of opening training courses for haredim for various trades, including, for example, building construction electrician, and said they hope haredim will react positively to the job opportunities their vocational training courses will provide.
