Economy and Trade Minister Naftali Bennett spoke to a group of haredi recruits to Israel's national civilian service earlier this week. They argued with him and attacked the government's plan to draft haredim into the military and into national civilian service. At one point during the argument, Bennett's kippa fell off and landed on the floor, at which point a haredi recruit said, "It would be better if it stayed that way [on the floor, rather on Bennett's head]."

Economy and Trade Minister Naftali Bennett spoke to a group of haredi recruits to Israel's national civilian service earlier this week. The haredi recruits argued with him and attacked the government's plan to draft haredim into the military and into national civilian service.
At one point during the argument, Bennett's kippa fell off and landed on the floor, at which point a haredi recruit said, "It would be better if it stayed that way [on the floor, rather on Bennett's head]."
Another haredi recruit told Bennett that, "you can't touch the world of Torah without being closely familiar with it from within. Just like I won't intervene and privatize the universities, because I have no idea what is happening there – I expect [Finance Minister and Yesh Atid Party Chairman Yair] Lapid not to intervene [in haredi yeshivas] either."
Other haredi recruits warned Bennett that "if the study of Torah among the Jewish people stops for just one moment, the world will no longer exist," implying that only haredi Torah study matters.
Arutz Sheva has video of the aftermath, posted below, in which Bennett is conciliatory toward haredim. Ynet has a more detailed report on the event itself.
