NYC mayoral candidates participated last night in another public forum sponsored by haredim, this one in Flatbush, Brooklyn. All of the candidates save for Christine Quinn openly pandered to haredim over metzitzah b'peh (MBP), the dangerous mouth-to-bloody-penis sucking done by many haredi (and
some Zionist Orthodox) mohels immediately after removing the baby’s
foreskin. But one of those candidates outdid the others in his craven disregard for the truth – and for the safety of haredi babies.

At the haredi-sponsored NYC mayoral candidates' forum in Flatbushast night, Chistine Quinn was the only candidate to stand up for the lives of haredi babies. Anthony Weiner was, in effect, her evil polar opposite.
NY Times reporter Michael Powell there and Tweeted these two quotes from the ever-craven Weiner:
Weiner: Orthodox circumcision practice "about thousands of yrs of tradition" and "liberal elitist condescension" to insist on safe practice
MBP has clearly killed and maimed thousands of babies. The number of infants dying or being seriously maimed now is fewer than it was historically because we have antibiotics and anti-viral drugs. However, there is no guarantee those drugs will continue to be effective. Germs and viruses are living organisms, and they adapt to them and learn how to survive them.

But make no mistake about it, babies are still dying from, being maimed by and being seriously sickened by MBP-transmitted disease, and Weiner certainly knows this.
Past that, MBP does not have a clear, unbroken tradition dating back thousands of years as you can also see below.
Politicians like Weiner tell haredim what they want to hear, rather than telling them what they need to hear.
To do this over a bike lane or a building project is one thing.
