The IDF’s Advocate General is assembling information on dozens of cases of violence, assault and incitement to violence against haredi soldiers by other haredim who object to serving in the military, in order to have indictments issued against the haredi assailants, Ynet reported.
Incidents of violence against haredi soldiers by other haredim has recently seen a dramatic rise.
"Zero tolerance [of violence and incitement to violence against haredi soldiers] must be put into effect…We have heard of incidents in which soldiers were prevented from attending their synagogue, soldiers spat on during prayer in Bnei Brak and Jerusalem, knocks on doors of soldiers' wives and warnings against walking in their neighborhood, as well as threatening notices pinned on doorways,” a high-ranking IDF officer told Ynet.
The Advocate General’s report also tells of incidents in which haredi soldiers in Jerusalem and Bnei Brak were stoned by other haredim, and incidents where car tires of haredi soldiers were slashed.
"These are outrageous incidents which even include the expulsion of haredi soldiers' children from kindergartens and day cares," the officer added.
