A haredi man from Airmont, New York was arrested yesterday at John F. Kennedy International Airport when a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officer found a 5-inch knife concealed in his belt-buckle, the Journal News reported.
19-year-old Chaim Gruenzweig is charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Gruenzweig had a ticket to Frankfurt, Germany, and was arrested by Port Authority police after a TSA officer manning an x-ray machine discovered the knife, which had been “configured as part of the belt’s buckle in an effort to conceal the fact that it was a weapon,” the TSA reportedly said.
