Approximately 20 Jewish settlers rioted in the West Bank Arab village of Jallud near Ramallah Wednesday, reportedly shattering windows of one village's home and assaulting three of its residents. The settlers then reportedly vandalized a car parked near the home and fled the scene in the beginning of a week of violence in the area.
The Palestinians who were attacked were taken to a hospital in Nablus, one by ambulance.
The IDF reportedly confirmed the riot took place and also confirmed that one Palestinian man was indeed taken to hospital by Red Crescent ambulance.
On Saturday, fighting broke out between as many as 200 Palestinians (some reports put the number at 50) and about a dozen settlers near the Esh Kodesh West Bank outpost.
The IDF said both sides threw stones at each other.
Settlers – who complained that it took the army 30 minutes to respond to their calls for help – said the attack on them by Palestinians seemed to be preplanned and coordinated, and claimed that the Palestinian violence was unprovoked.
Official sources reportedly claim one settler was lightly injured by a stone in the clash.
A settler spokesperson, however, claimed 12 settlers were lightly injured.
IDF forces remain on the scene as a precaution.
Even though the settlers claim the Palestinian attack was unprovoked, it was preceded by conflict.
A military order allows Palestinians to farm a field close to Esh Kodesh that Palestinians and Esh Kodesh settlers both claim as their own.
Esh Kodesh settlers tried twice to non-violently prevent Palestinians from farming the field last week.
First, settlers held a picnic in the field and had to be forcibly removed by the IDF and Border Police. Four settlers were arrested.
Next, settler women tried to stand in front of the Palestinian plows, but were removed by security forces.
Settlers then rioted in nearby Jallud Wednesday. Another nearby Palestinian village, Kasra, was also reportedly attacked.
An Esh Kodesh settler spokesperson denied any Esh Kodesh settlers participated in either attack.
