Rabbi Amnon Yitzhak: Shas “Deathly Afraid Of Me”

Rabbi Amnon Yitzhak, the flamboyant, eccentric (and some say fraudulent) Yemenite kiruv (missionary) rabbi reportedly says the Sefardi haredi Shas political party is “deathly afraid of me."
In an interview with the haredi Kol Hai radio station reported by Ynet, Yitzhak attacked the spiritual leader of Shas, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, mimicking the claim of the respected Shas rebel Rabbi Chaim Amsellem, who broke away from Shas to form his own political party earlier this year. At the time, Amsellem alleged that Rabbi Ovadia Yosef is being held captive by his family, who manipulate the information the aged rabbi sees and skew his rulings.
"Rabbi Ovadia's door is closed and only people suitable to Yehudit and Moshe can enter," Yitzhak told Kol Hai, referring to Rabbi Ovadia Yosef’s daughter-in-law Yehudit and his Moshe.
Yitzhak also claimed that Shas threatened to harm him physically.
"They sent someone to threaten me and say, 'if he behaves he will be permitted to enter [and see Rabbi Ovadia Yosef] whenever he wants'... and if I won't behave, I will be harmed," Yitzhak reportedly said.
Yitzhak, who is far less respected nationally than Amsellem, is now in the process of forming his own political party to run in the January elections.
"I'm expected to create an identical party, so-to-speak, to Shas, but that is not my intention. I am not competing against them even though they are competing against me, and are deathly afraid of me,” Yitzhak reportedly said.
