Haredim Allegedly Beat Arab Boy In What Police Are Calling A Hate Crime

A 15-year-old Arab boy was assaulted on Haim Bar-Lev Street in Jerusalem last night by what police and eyewitnesses believe were two haredi youth, Ynet reported.
The boy reportedly suffered a head injury and was rushed to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital where he remains hospitalized in moderate condition.
The victim’s friends who witnessed the attack to police that the assailants "appeared to be haredim.” They fled before they could be detained.

What did my son do to them?,” the victim’s mother reportedly told Ynet.
In the past few weeks two Arab men have been victims of hate crimes in Jerusalem. Both suffered moderate wounds.
The police were able to arrest the assailants in both cases. One is now standing trial. The other's indictment is still pending.
Update 11:08 am CST – The Jerusalem Post adds more detail:
• The victims and his friend were riding their bikes on Haim Bar Lev Street near the National Police Headquarters at about 9 pm when they were attacked by haredim.
• The two boys were speaking Arabic and the haredim attacked them without provocation.
• His friend was able to flee, but the victim was not.
• The victim was struck multiple times in the head.
• A woman driving by saw the victim lying sprawled on the ground and called an ambulance.
• Police also responded and began searching the area for the haredi suspects but could not find them.
• The victim was taken by Magen David Adom ambulance to the hospital and was scheduled to be released today, but because the victim is still experiencing dizziness, doctors have decided to keep him under observation for at least another day.
