Bechadrei Haredim reports that an 18-year-old haredi yeshiva student was arrested on Israel’s Highway 1 near Mitzpe Jericho for driving wildly and erratically at speeds of up to 106 miles per hour Thursday night.
The yeshiva student did not have a driver’s license and tried to avoid capture by police. During the arrest he tried to flee and struck a guard rail, but was arrested without further incident.
No one was injured.
But the incident could have been tragic. The yeshiva student had picked up four hitchhikers before the arrest.
