Moshe Aryeh Friedman won a bizarre court case against an all girls hasidic school forcing the school to take his young boys as students or lose state subsidies and face state penalties. But the case may be even more bizarre than that. Far more bizarre. And if the allegations Friedman's camp is making are true, they could land some Satmar leaders in prison.
What could be more bizarre than that?
Here is a picture of Moshe Aryeh Friedman followed by an ID allegedly issued in his name by Satmar's United Talmudical Academy:
The man on the UTA card is allegedly Menashe Glanz, the brother of Leib Glanz. Both men pleaded guilty to defrauding the US Government of more than $200,000 in Section 8 housing funds and are due to be sentenced in late January.
Menashe Glanz allegedly did more than just that fraud, however – he also allegedly tried to steal Moshe Aryeh Friedman's Brooklyn home while Friedman lived in Europe and Glanz was his renter (and was claiming to be living in a different Section 8 property at the same time). And he allegedly did so with the help of Satmar's United Talmudical Academy.
The city issues a notice that Friedman did not sign the deed (posted below) transferring 31 Ross Street to YSH Realty:
The supposed deed allegedly signed by Friedman but which is apparently a forgery:
Allegedly, Satmar used its friends other hasidic groups in Belgium to block Friedman's kids from attending school to try to force Friedman to drop his legal action in NYC related to 31 Ross Street.
Of course, there were also beit din actions involved:
Even though he claims to have repented, he is man who met with Iran's genocidal president and fawned over him, and Friedman is clearly a troubled, odd man.
But what is being alleged here is that Leib Glanz, who was a senior United Talmudical Academy official, and his brother Menash Glanz, conspired to use Friedman's identity to steal Friedman's house and, perhaps, defraud the government, as well.
If that is true, the Glanz brothers deserve much longer prison sentences than their plea bargains are likely to draw next month when they are sentenced – unless of course the brothers are arrested for this crime before that day comes.
