Complaint Filed Against Satmar With Israel’s Elections Committee

The Hiddush religious freedom organization filed a complaint last week with the chairman of the Central Election Committee, Supreme Court Justice Elyakim Rubinstein, against the Williamsburg Satmar Rebbe Zalman Leib Teitelbaum after Teitelbaum offered to pay yeshivas 100,00 shekels if their students did not vote in the upcoming Israeli elections.
Hiddush reportedly cited paragraphs 122 and 123 of Israel’s Election Law which state that one may not give a bribe to a voter to influence his or her vote or to cause him or her not to vote.
