Israel's Channel 2 TV news and its major business daily newspaper Globes are reporting that the investigation into allegations rabbi-to-the-stars and "kabbalist" Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto and his wife bribed a police officer and laundered money has reached a critical stage, and police reportedly have gathered enough evidence – including tapes of the attempted bribery as it took place – for the Pintos to be criminally indicted.

The police officer was heading the investigation into what appears to be widespread fraud, embezzlement and money laundering in Pinto's charity and other related crimes.
Pinto's close friend and supporter Israeli mega businessman Nochi Dankner is reportedly under investigation for securities fraud. Part of Dankner's alleged pump and dump scheme may have depended on Pinto's endorsement of him and on a deal Pinto brokered for Dankner with a South American Jewish business mogul. But at this time, the two cases are not known to be linked.
