Oren Yaniv, a Daily News reporter who rarely writes anything critical of Brooklyn's DA Charles Hynes no matter what Hynes has done, repeats Hynes' office's claim that Hynes' special haredi Kol Tzedek project has resulted in more than 100 haredi cases being brought forward – which is a complete and total lie and has been proved to be so by The Jewish Week, the New York Times, The Guardian, and other news outlets.
Hynes has at times claimed all those 100 cases (about half of which have nothing to do with Kol Tzedek) were convictions, something that is demonstrably false as well.
Oren Yaniv shouldn't be working in journalism. Hynes shouldn't be DA.
Unfortunately, in New York City and in Brooklyn, competence, honesty and fair play aren't in many job descriptions, and when they are, they're almost always ignored without penalty.
