Israel Police have arrested two haredi men for counterfeiting tickets to tonight’s Siyum HaShas in Jerusalem, the Jerusalem Post reports.
The event, which celebrates the conclusion of the 7 1/2 year cycle of study of the entire Babylonian Talmud and the beginning of the next 7 1/2 year cycle, is reportedly sold out, making the tickets, which are in high demand, exceedingly valuable.
The two men reportedly own a printing business, Shoshanim Printing, in Jerusalem. They were arrested this morning when police raided their shop and found the counterfeit tickets.
The men were not remanded, however, reportedly because the judge who arraigned them felt that the number of counterfeit tickets recovered by police was too small to warrant it.
