The condition of Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv is reportedly extremely critical. Family rushes to the 102-year-old haredi leader’s bedside.

Yeshiva World reports that the condition of Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv is now extremely critical. Members of his close family have reportedly rushed to Shaarei Tzedek Hospital to be at his bedside.

The 102-year-old leader of Ashkenazi haredim has been hospitalized in the Intensive Care unit of Sha'arei Tzedek Hospital in Jerusalem for months with a variety of medical problems that include respiratory and kidney failure.

Rabbi Aryeh Elyashiv, one of the hundreds of descendants of his grandfather Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, serves as his grandfather’s secretary and assistant. He requested that tehillim, psalms, be said for Yosef Shalom ben Chaya Musha.

Ha'aretz is reporting that Rabbi Elyashiv's condition is so criticaql that haredi yeshivas and schools have stopped classes and study sessions so every student and teacher can join in the communal prayers being said to plead for Rabbi Elyashiv's recovery.
