Shaul Spitzer tried to burn down Aron Rottenberg's house at 4:15 am last May while Rottenberg's famiy slept inside. Rottenberg confronted Spitzer, fought with him and was seriously burned over more than half his body when Spitzer's firebomb ignited him. He later settled a civil suit against Spitzer – the Skvere Rebbe's hus bucher, butler – and the Skvere Rebbe out of court for at least $2 million dollars (and other considerations) and agreed to a plea bargain for Spitzer. Now Rottenberg – whose settlement may have been linked to it – is asking the judge to go easy on Spitzer.
