He’s almost back.
The extradition to the US of Hosam Amara, a former senior manager at Agriprocessors kosher slaughterhouse in Postville, Iowa, has been approved by the Jerusalem District Court, Arutz Sheva reported today.
Amara, a 46-year-old Israeli Arab viewed by many in Postville as Agriprocessors’ enforcer, fled to Israel with the assistance of Agriprocessors VP Sholom Rubashkin shortly after the massive immigration raid in May 2008.
Rubashkin would later be convicted of 86 counts of financial fraud. He is serving a 27-year sentence in federal prison.
Amara allegedly extorted many of the undocumented workers who sought work at Agriprocessors, forcing them to by used cars from him at vastly inflated prices in order to get jobs. He also allegedly extorted sexual favors from female workers and committed many other crimes, including harboring illegal aliens for profit.
Amara can appeal the court’s ruling.
The scheduled date for his extradition was not reported.
