Tnuva, the huge Israeli dairy conglomerate, decided not to renew its distribution agreement with Flaum's Appetizing, the hasidic-owned Brooklyn-based food manufacturer and distributor, due to Flaum's ongoing legal troubles stemming from its illegal firing of immigrant workers who tried to unionize.
Crain's NY Business is reporting that Tnuva, the huge Israeli dairy conglomerate, decided not to renew its distribution agreement with Flaum's Appetizing, the hasidic-owned Brooklyn-based food manufacturer and distributor, due to Flaum's ongoing legal troubles stemming from its illegal firing of immigrant workers who tried to unionize.
A series of protests by these workers organized by Braandworkers, and protests and letters from rabbis – all but a small handful non-Orthodox and all non-haredi – and negative media coverage generated by Flaum's actions are said to be behind the decision.
The National Labor Relations Board has been critical of Flaum's, and the hasidic-owned company has refused to accept NLRB rulings against it.
