Last night, the publisher of Ami Magazine Rabbi Yitzchok Frankfurter said his publication did not crop or manipulate photographs to cut women out of them. He said this with his wife, Ami Magazine's editor, by his side live on national radio. She did not object to his statement. Was Rabbi Frankfurter telling the truth?
No. Rabbi Frankfurter lied.
On last night's Zev Brenner show, in response to my lumping all haredi publications together with regard to not publishing pictures of women (and therefore one presumes cropping and photoshopping them out of photographs), a point made earlier on the show by Rabbi Frankfurter himself, Rabbi Frankfurter, agitated and upset, said, "Are you saying that I cropped that picture?…"
I responded, "No…Have you [i.e., Ami Magazine] ever altered a picture?"
To which Zev Brenner said "They don't do that," and Rabbi Frankfurter said, "…I don't work in the graphics department…but we don't do that…"
(The above dialogue is truncated for clarity. You can hear all of it on the mp3 audio clip posted below.)
Here is proof that Rabbi Frankfurter is lying, taken from the pages of this week's Ami Magazine:
