A New Square announcement released today says the attempt to have the federal government investigate the arson attack on the Rottenberg home by the butler of the Skvere Rebbe, and the attempted murders of the entire Rottenberg family is an attempt to crush the lifestyle of hasidic Jews. The announcement says there is a "self-hating" Jew behind this, and that the rabbinic leaders of this generation have to decide what to do about it.
I'll try to get a full translation posted as soon as I can.
The poster also appears to be taking a dig at a "self-hating" Jew, which may be a reference to me, but probably is a reference to the Rottenberg's attorney, Michael Sussman.
Update 6:54 pm CST – Here's the translation:
As we all know, there is currently the matter of Skver in which a terrible event occurred in which someone was almost killed, simply for not going in lock-step with them...It is truly something that should shake up every right-minded brain that a thing like that should occur amongst 'Klal Yisroel' [the Jewish people].
From the beginning of the week everyone followed the news, and everyone understood that it was a terrible crime and the guilty must be brought to justice and it needs nobody's "okay."
BUT WHAT HAPPENED FURTHER?
Here every reasonable person must understand that it evolved into a matter that is no longer a matter of Skver alone but of the global Jewish community. Meaning, some are attempting to submit a complaint to the courts that Jewish leaders order their members on how to live... And we live, after all, in America that is known as a land of freedom, and it is therefore in violation of the Constitution. Who has the right to tell his community what or what not to do, how may one order adults not have Internet at home, etc. The result of such an trial can be terrible. A rabbi who seeks to strengthen matters of Judaism will be committing a crime. 'Such may not occur.'
THE MATTER OF SKVER SHOULD BE HANDLED
But it cannot affect 'klal yisroel'...
One of the very well known self-hating Jews is behind the idea of how to, once and for all, finish off Jewish leadership.
Such a sensitive matter must be led by the 'gedoilei yisroel.'
