Why are some people claiming Gefen sardines are treife?
Lakewood food stores are pulling cans of Gefen sardines from their shelves.
Why?
I'm told this is the reason:
They eat krill & anisakis worms. The anisakis penetrate the stomach & go into the flesh.
So in toto we have the following issues, infestation in the flesh, in the guts present in the can, etc so according halacha & just plain discusting, it must be pulled from the shelves as stores are starting to do.
I wouldn't throw out yours before you ask your rabbi about this 'recall.'
