Somber Farewell Melava Malka For Spinka Rebbe Before Being Sent To Prison
YiddishNayes
Spinka Chasidim In Boro Park Bid Farewell to Thier Beloved Rebbe in a Melava Malka that was planned for the rebbe before he is going to prison for 24 month.
The incarceration of the rebbe was supposed to be about seven months ago (May 24), but after an appeal filed by his lawyers, his sentence was postponed until this Tuesday (December 16th).
The 24 months is the maximum but after calculating a third, to come down for good behavior, the Rebbe would sit about 15 months in prison.
Rabbi Weisz, several associates and five charitable organizations associated with Spinka were indicted by a federal grand jury in late 2007 in a scheme in which his assistant solicited millions of dollars of contributions to the Spinka organizations by promising to secretly refund up to 95 percent of the contributions. In this manner, the contributors could claim as tax deductions the full amounts of their contributions, while actually having contributed as little as 5 percent of the amount they would declare on their federal income tax returns.
Followers of Rebbe held a farewell Melava Malka,The Rebbe spoke, and asked his followers to keep up the Torah Learning and Davening.
The Rebbe spoke about the Story of Yosef when he came to the prison in Egypt, and eventually everyone saw that everything turned for the better.
Numerous Rabbonim From Boro Park Attended The Melava Malka.
