U.S. Congressman Ron Klein, a Democrat from Florida, has met 3 Chabad Shluchim to discuss the injustice to Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin.
Monday's meeting was attended by Boca Raton Shluchim Rabbis Zalman Bukiet, Moshe Denburg and Ruvi New.
According to reports from the meeting, Rep. Klein was extremely responsive and pledged to push for a bi-partisan meeting with Attorney General Eric Holder to review the case.
Holder in the past has refused to get involved in the case which many see as a witchhunt against the former kosher meat executive from Iowa. Judge Linda Reade sentenced Rubashkin to 27 years in prison for bank fraud and related charges, although prosecutors had sought a 25-year prison term.
Two weeks ago, Congressman Gary Peters of Michigan met with West Bloomfield Shliach Rabbi Elimelech Silberberg to discuss the case.
While New York Congressman Anthony Weiner said in a recent speech to Agudath Israel he was "extremely troubled and concerned with the injustice going on."
