Court Specializing in Conversion Established
The Rabbinical Center of Europe (RCE) together with the ultra-Orthodox community of Hungary has announced the establishment of a new Beis Din immediately after Pesach. The Beis Din will deal specifically with conversion and problem caused by questionable conversions ● The founding of such a Beis Din follows the call of the Rebbe who constantly fought against perverted and irresponsible conversion
Chabad Info ReporterThe RCE will establish a new Jewish court in Hungary to deal with conversion related issues. Its founding will be done with the consent and blessing of Israel’s Chief Rabbinate.
The RCE has been working in cooperation with the local community led by Rabbi Tuvia Weisberger, Chief Rabbi of Kahal Adas Yeraim in Budapest. The new court will open immediately following the Pesach holiday.
The Beis Din will deal with specifically conversion and related laws, due to the increased volume of dubious conversions in Europe and Israel in the past few years. Sources say that even respectable rabbi have failed to meet the necessary standards to maintain Halachic validity.
The need to campaign against the unwarranted mass conversions that were done without strict Halachic credence was often spoken about by the Rebbe. It is because of the Rebbe’s contstant and urgent call on this matter that led the RCE to forming this Beis Din.
Rabbi Avraham Turzki, a Halachic-conversion activist told Chabad Info that the initiative came about after requests were received by the Vice President of the Rabbinical Center of Europe Rabbi Aryeh Goldberg. The center only began actualizing the plan after clear consent and blessing from the Chairman of the International Board for Jewish Conversion Rabbi Nachum Eizenstein.
