Arthur Abba Goldberg, the founder of JONAH, Jews Offering New Alternatives to Homosexuality, has several felony convictions for fraud and was the mastermind of a scheme that defrauded poor communities out of hundreds of millions of dollars.
According to the South Florida Gay News, Goldberg dropped his "conspicuous" middle name after his sentence was finished, hid his past crimes, and launched JONAH, Jews Offering New Alternatives to Homosexuality.
Along with his federal fraud convictions, Goldberg was also disbarred. He is prohibited from working in the securities industry or practicing law.
Yet, SFGN reports Goldberg identifies himself as a "doctor of jurisprudence" and also claims to be a "former deputy attorney general and Connecticut law professor."
JONAH believes Homosexuality is caused by "psychological trauma" and believes “six months to three years of weekly therapy and prayer" can "cure" it.
In 1973 the American Psychiatric Association removed homosexuality from its list of mental illnesses noting that “homosexuality per se implies no impairment in judgment, stability, reliability, or general social or vocational capabilities.” The American Psychological Association adopted the same position in 1975.
