Kids Write to Reb Sholom Mordechai
Matzav.comNote: Matzav.com would like to spearhead a national writing campaign for Reb Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin. We are asking all rabbeim and teachers to take part in this effort to provide chizuk to a wonderful, upstanding man who has been the target of a witchhunt. Most readers of this site are well aware of the nature of this case and have joined in davening on his behalf and contributing to the pidyon shvuyim fund to ensure that the legal team representing Reb Sholom Mordechai can continue fighting for justice.
As Rav Dovid Schustal said this past Motzoei Shabbos, the tzaar of one Yid is the tzaar of gantz Klal Yisroel. Have your students and children write letters of chizuk and concern and mail them to Reb Sholom Mordechai at the address below. Feel free to send copies of the letters, pictures, or a write-up about your effort to Matzav.com for us to share with all the readers here.
The letters provide tremendous chizuk for Reb Sholom Mordechai, and while we all are still hopeful that he will merit a yeshuah, we would like to make the time that he must spend in prison at this point more pleasant. Your kind words and encouragment are so valuable.
There are countless stories of the achdus generated by the effort to assist Reb Sholom Mordechai and the remarkable generosity of Jews all over the country - and the world. We hope to share some of these stories in the future.
COLlive.com reports: Reb Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin, still in a Cedar Rapids prison, has been receiving letters of support, from 6th graders too. This week, the 6th grade English class at Lubavitcher Yeshiva in Crown Heights spoke about the fact that Reb Sholom Mordechai is in jail.
The students heard the story of Reb Sholom Mordechai’s ordeal, beginning from when his family opened the Agriprocessors meat plant until the recent court case and conviction.
A lesson was then given on writing letters and each of the students wrote a personal letter to Reb Sholom Mordechai.
The letters were edited in class and at home with the help of their parents.
When completed, the letters will be sent out to the Iowa Correctional Center, where Reb Sholom Mordechai is currently incarcerated.
The teacher of the class, Yosef Shidler said, “I hope that other classes around the world will follow this idea; it would be amazing if Shalom Mordechai received hundreds of letters from Jewish children worldwide.”
Anyone who wants to send a letter to Reb Sholom Mordechai can do so. Letters and other correspondence for Reb Shalom Mordechai may be sent to:
Linn County Correctional Center
Inmate Shalom Rubashkin
P.O. Box 608

Make sure to write a return address or the mail will not be delivered to him.
Please continue to daven for Reb Shalom Mordechai ben Rivkah.
The need for financial support is still very strong. Anyone who can help out and can lend support should take a moment to send a donation to the Pidyon Shvuyim Fund. The help of Yidden across the globe is severely needed.…
