When something is hidden, Rabbi David Zwiebel told the Agudah convention, it's up to God to deal with. But when something is revealed, it's up to us.
All I'll add – besides the obvious need for Agudath Israel of America to go well beyond words and to take real concrete action to stop sexual abuse and other related problems – is that the primary reason haredi child sexual abuse is revealed rather than hidden is that bloggers and activists made it so.
Without us – and without the work of journalists like Hella Winston and Gary Rosenblatt (and, of course, Robert Kolker and Phil Jacobs) – Agudah would still be pretending child sexual abuse is not a problem.
Here is the last six minutes of Zwiebel's Agudah convention speech, where he first mentions child sexual abuse and domestic violence.
