These two statements were sent to me by email from Chabad friends:
Statement by Agudas Chassidei Chabad-Lubavitch
(Umbrella organization of the worldwide Chabad-Lubavitch movement)
4 Kislev, 5768 • November 14, 2007We are deeply troubled by news reports concerning allegations against certain personnel of Israel’s Chabad Youth Organization.
Like Chabad-Lubavitch offices everywhere, the Chabad Youth Organization in Israel is fiscally independent. However, its noble social service programs and educational outreach are legendary and a source of pride to the Jewish people everywhere.
Clearly, every individual is instructed by the Torah to uphold the laws of his/her land, and this is, of course, a basic principle of Chabad Lubavitch operations. We are confident, therefore, that the authorities will receive full cooperation in their efforts and that, ultimately, the results will be satisfactory. In the meantime, we ask everyone to accord the concerned parties proper respect and consideration during this troubling time.
We pray that the dedicated leadership of Israel’s Chabad Youth Organization will soon once again be able to direct its energies to further developing its educational and humanitarian activities for the many thousands who depend on them.
