Matisyahu Comes Out

Matisyahu on why he left Chabad:

"I need to do Judaism in a way that makes me feel more alive, not less alive."

"[Chabad] was about becoming part of this machine and feeling like it was taking away from my service of God, not adding to it."

Matis considers himself a Karliner hasid, it seems. He also tells the Jewish Week he's been slowly moving away from Chabad for four years.
