Nathan Englander's new book, The Ministry of Special Cases, deals in part with the Jewish children of prostitutes and pimps in Buenos Aries. The Zwi Migdal Association was a white slavery operation run by Jews. It took poor young Jewish girls from the shtels and small towns of Eastern Europe and brought them to Argentina to work as prostitutes. The girls most often thought they were to be maids or nannies. Ynet has a piece on a new nonfiction book dealing with Zwi Migdal, and gives even more background, but doesn't mention Englander's book, probably because the book is not out in Hebrew yet.
