Sandy Koufax would not pitch on Yom Kippur
As you read this piece, it's important to keep in mind that Rabbi Moshe Feller wanted to be a sports announcer and would have been one. What stopped him? His parents put the then 14-year-old on a train – kicking and screaming by some accounts – to Yeshiva Torah Vodaas in Brooklyn. Rabbi Feller would later leave Torah Vodaas for 770, and would eventually be sent back to Minnesota by the Rebbe to found Upper Midwest Merkos Lubavitch where he would have his fateful encounter with Sandy Koufax.
