The haredi evangeleical organization Ohr Somayach is advertizing its second "Luxury" Pesach at an Israeli resort hotel. The featured speaker is Rabbi David Orlofsky, who wrote a shameful letter smearing Rabbi Nosson Slifkin. On the same bill with Rabbi Orlofsky are the two founders of Ohr Somayach, Rabbis Nota Schiller and Mendel Weinbach, and, listed as the Co-Scholar-in Residence with Rabbi Orlofsky is Rabbi Mitchell Goodman, who will also be leading the communal seder.
Who is Rabbi Goodman?
Like Rabbi Slifkin, Rabbi Goodman is from England. Also like Rabbi Slifkin, Rabbi Goodman lectures on Torah and Science:
[Rabbi Goodman] has a degree in Biological Sciences with a specialty in Neurophysiology and Molecular Genetics from Westminster University in London. He is also a professional guitarist. He is a graduate of Ohr Somayach and blends science and Torah into a fascinating cocktail that is enhanced by his dynamism and clarity. He is an inspiring and unforgettable speaker. Rabbi Goodman will be leading the Communal Seder on the first night and will lecture throughout the Holiday.
Ohr Somayach, an institution Rabbi Slifkin studied at, did not stand by Rabbi Slifkin when he and his books on Science and Torah were unfairly banned by a group of haredi 'gedolim.' These gedolim stated that the earth cannot be older than 5765 years – to believe otherwise is heresy. They also denied the validity of much of modern science, and condemned Rabbi Slifkin for giving weight to it.
The dishonesty of Rabbis Schiller, Weinbach and Orlofsky is sickening. Like any good cult leader, they adopt the "end justifies the means" philosophy of recruitment, misleading gullible (and often vulnerable) people about the true beliefs of their organization in order to indoctrinate new members into the cult.
Don't fund these people. Stop giving them money. Do not honor them.
Their world is based on lies.
