In a sharply-worded decision, both Rabbi Moshe Rubashkin and his father Aaron (of Postville fame) were found guilty by the National Labor Relations Board of repetitively collecting union dues from their employees of Cherry Hill Textiles, Inc. and then refusing to turn over those dues to the union.
Rabbi Moshe Rubashkin later served a term in Federal prison for bank fraud and was released from prison one year ago.
Aaron Rubashkin's slaughterhouse in Postville, Iowa – run by two of his sons, Rabbi Sholom M. Rubashkin and Rabbi Heshey Rubashkin along with other members of the Rubashkin family – is currently under investigation for alleged violations of the Humane Slaughter Act, was previously fined by the Federal government for failing to pay ranchers for cattle, and is also under investigation by the Environmental Protection Agency for alleged violations of the Clean Water Act.
Aaron Rubashkin's son-in-law, Rabbi Milton Balkany was charged with misuse of almost $1,000,000 in Federal funds meant for disabled children.
Rabbi Moshe Rubashkin was elected president of the government-funded Lubavitch-controlled Crown Heights Community Council earlier this year.
