Auschwitz 60 Years After

Today, the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, raises a question:

Why are there no Jewish holidays to commemorate events like this?

Should not the day the Auschwitz death machine stopped be remembered? What about a holiday commemorating the end of WW2 – should we not show gratitude to G-d for the end of those horrible years and to the men who sacrificed so much to end them?
