Yes, it is true that almost all "frum" yeshivas and girls schools have the same rules for internet use.

It is also true that most parents sign the consent form so that their children will be admitted to the school, then trash the form.

The so-called "frum" yeshivas and seminaries are requiring that parents and students agree to conform to their computer and internet use policies.

Accordingly, I believe that the same yeshivas and seminaries be required to sign a declaration of the following:

1. We admit all qualified students, regardless of their financial status. Students from wealthy families do not receive preferential admissions consideration.

2. We do not launder money. (For example we do not accept a "charitable contribution" from Family 'A', which is, in-fact, a tuition payment for Family 'B', and vice-versa.

3. We hire the best qualified rebbes, morahs, and teachers. The sons and sons-in-law and the daughters and daughters-in-law of the Rosh Yeshiva are NOT hired solely because of their family connections.

4. We agree to provide an education that will allow our students to acquire skills that will enable them to be productive members of society.

Jeff does not think that this lifestyle has more than 20 years. I think he's mistaken; but if he is in fact correct, the Internet will play a huge part in this lifestyle going into the dustbin of history.

It doesn't say much for the competence of the administration that a word on the school's logo is misspelled and that two phrases with very different meanings are equated.

But the OUHC run all their kosher factory work via internet, researching ingredients, arrainging supervision, and the supervisors are given their instructions via internet. They are also expected to book flights, hotels etc, all by internet.
And it is this work that brings in the $$$ for the OUHC to run their outfit.

Jack, the times posted are from Minnesota, where Shmarya is headquartered in his mother's basement. Here in NJ, it's an hour later. I wake up at 4:30am and must be at work by 6:20am. Unlike the frumma, the rest of us have to wake up early, daven, and show up for work on time.

1) The Yeshiva Centre & its administration
2) The Adass Israel school, Adass Israel Congregation, & its enablers that got the Leifer family out of Australia & into Israel?

I haven't seen any such statements.

The UOHC should've, at the very least, included rebukes to these aforementioned institutions & enablers with this internet ban because the only reason I see the UOHC ban accomplishing is to stop the knowledge of the CSA from spreading amongst the students (who are minors) from seeing that their principals are either molesters themselves or enablers of the highest order.

I would not be surprised if the stats were even higher in the U.S.. But the "men" of the "frum" community(and i use those terms loosely) already have problems with child sexual abuse, incestuous sexual abuse and grooming, rape, using sex workers(male, female, transgender and underage runaways), casual homosexual encounters amongst chavrusas, purchasing pornography, going to strip clubs and all this before the creation of the internet. You're also mistaken about the 2 phrases. the term kiddush hashem has been accepted to mean any action which makes jews and god look good. It is not restricted to martyrdom.
The second one, "vehaya machanecha" is the source to justify many laws of tznius which have no direct prohibition of their own.
So neither of your complaints are accurate. I'm surprised you didn't know this.

1. Ummm..since I"m self-employed, I work the cases on my desk at my own pace. If I'm blogging during the workday (like I am now) I either stay later at the office, or take some things home.

2. I don't hate the frums/haredi/hasidim. I hate what they do to themselves, to thier children, and to the Jewish People as a whole.

3. I practice in Colorado Springs, Colorado. No frumma here. I understand there are some frumma in Denver...and if they wanted to engage my services, they would probably want to negotiate with me over my fees....and I've been practicing long enough, and I practice in a very esoteric field of law...so I don't negotiate my fees.

4. If you don't think the haredim (at least in the US) don't live in poverty, then do a Google on "Haredim (or Hasidic Jews) and Poverty" and tell me what you come up with.

And what is absolutely heart-breaking to me is that so much of that poverty is self-inflicted.

WSC, I have great respect for your opinions, but....frankly, I think masturbation and the spiling of seed were around long before the Internet...LMAO!

But seriously, I shake my head at the accuracy of the next part of your statement- about the avoidance of erections. I cannot, for the life of me, understand the fear of male sexual arousal that the frumma display and go to such absurd lengths to try to avoid.

Of course they fail. Human sexual desire (the desire to mate, reproduce, etc) is the way the human race reproduces and how it has survived for hundreds of thousands of years.

Of course, there are certain standards of propreity and modesty that most reasonable people follow. But the frumma take it (like everything else) to such absurd lengths that I just shake my head.

But then again, when you are trying to reproduce 18th and 19th Century Poland, what is really an "extreme", or "absurd"? As Jeff has pointed out, these people go through life more or less completely disconnected from objective reality.
