A 32-year-old haredi man from Bnei Brak was arrested Tuesday evening at a security checkpoint in the West Bank after he was caught trying to smuggle Palestinians into Israel, Arutz Sheva reported.
The man’s car was stopped at the checkpoint, apparently for a routine check.
Israeli security personnel opened the man’s car trunk and found three Palestinian men hiding inside. The three Palestinians were trying to enter Israel illegally.
Under interrogation, the haredi driver reportedly admitted that he received 250 shekels (just over $60) from each of the three Palestinians in exchange for smuggling them into Israel proper.
This is reportedly the second similar incident this week alone.
Although most Palestinians who enter Israel illegally do so in order to work illegally in Israel, last week Hamza Mohammad Hassan Matrouk, a 23-year-old Palestinian from Tulkarem in Samaria who was in Israel illegally, stabbed 12 people in an terror attack on a Tel Aviv bus, and several other similar terror attacks carried out by Palestinians in Israel illegally have taken place over the past two years.
