Shas Member of Knesset Eli Yishai has allegedly received death threats after media reports were published saying that Yishai was thinking of breaking away from the Sefardi haredi party he once headed to form his own list for the upcoming Knesset elections scheduled for mid-March.

Shas Member of Knesset Eli Yishai has allegedly received death threats after media reports were published saying that Yishai was thinking of breaking away from the Sefardi haredi party he once headed to form his own list for the upcoming Knesset elections scheduled for mid-March.

Yishai says he received several anonymous phone calls threatening to be stab him if he leaves Shas to form a new political party or if he joins another already existing party, Arutz Sheva reported based on a Walla! News report. He reportedly filed a report to the Knesset police.

Shas’ current party leader, Aryeh Deri, is a convicted felon. He headed the party before Yishai, was convicted of public corruption and served time in prison. He was reinstated as the sole Shas Party leader by the late founder and spiritual head of Shas, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, shortly before Yosef died.

Recent polls have shown that most Shas voters want Deri to be removed as party leader and replaced by Yishai.

The immaturity of the frum. If someone displeases you, have them killed. Negotiation is for goyim. Intelligence is for goyim. The Frum are the great representatives of the Jewish people. This is the face we want the world to see? MK Yishai is a putz to be sure, but one would not stoop to injure him physically, because that is what civilized humans do. The frumma, therefore are not civilized. Therefore, they deserve to be treated as such.

Maybe absurdity like this will finally split of the sane, working and traditional Sefari voters from Shas, which seems to not really stand for any of those constituencies. I'm still sad Amsallem didn't pass the threshold.
