Satmar School Closed For Fire, Safety, Permit Violations

96 Sanford Street in Brooklyn was closed today by the New York City Department of Buildings for multiple fire and safety violations, along with other major issues. Satmar is trying to find another location to teach the 200 girls who students there.

 

FailedMessiah.com has been told by a Satmar source that the school building at 96 Sandford Street in Brooklyn had no certificate of occupancy, no fire sprinkler system, and was recently built without permits in (allegedly) only two weeks.

FailedMessiah.com was also told that there is a"major" investigation now into bribes allegedly given DoB inspectors, and that arrests are likely.

NYC should have a process whereby buildings erected without permits shall be immediately demolished and the cost of said demolition be charged to the land owner. This is not some small and innocuous behavior. Buildings not built to code are death traps. A building without adequate fire safety or for that matter inspections are dangerous. One realizes that municipalities are resistant to doing this as it invites drawn out litigation, however, the interests of public safety outweigh the interests of private enterprise.
