AJN Retracts Story On Controversial Chabad Rabbi

Did leading Australian rabbis ask Rabbi Avrohom Glick to resign from his senior position at Chabad's Yeshivah Centre in Melbourne? The rabbis in question now say that did not do so. The real question, though, is why haven't demanded that Glick – who allegedly lied to police, prosecutors and the court – resign.

After last week’s “progress”, it seems this week we’re back where we started from. While last week I welcomed the initiative as ‘a very positive development’, I also expressed some reservation by stating that ‘actions speak louder than words'. It seems my lukewarm response was justified. This week’s article raises several questions – for example:

• At the very least, does Rabbi Mordechai Gutnick stand by his statement as reported in last week’s article: "if I was approached by victims, or rabbis who were concerned, I would ask him [Rabbi Glick] to consider standing down"?

• Why don’t the Yeshivah Centre and the Orthodox Rabbinate demand that Rabbi Glick unreservedly apologise and resign from any leadership position?

• Rabbi Glick has managed to elicit two public apologies (both seemingly warranted). As Yeshivah College Principal during the period of much of the abuse and cover-ups, when is he finally going to muster the courage to take responsibility and apologise?

I would also like to clarify that I was not one of the two sources the AJN refers to in this article. I was not aware of any of the circumstances around this alleged meeting. (Just needed to note this as some like to attribute everything in this area to me.)

Do they realise how stupid and evil they look? Do they think anyone in the wider community believes them?

This whole mess was a pathetic mix of the Australian Jewish News and their yellow sensationalistic bullshit reporting(nothing new) and rabbis running for cover (also nothing new).

They deserve each other.

But who suffers? the community.

I also think Kennard needs to be more tolerant and accepting of other Jews who do not practice his exact line of Litvish Judaisim (such as Chabad) and he should also stop mixing into matters relating to other schools, he looks like an idiot on both counts
