Early this morning, Israeli security forces shot and killed the man who is believed to have tried to assassinate a well-known right-wing activist, Zionist Orthodox Rabbi Yehuda Glick, last night outside the annual Temple Mount and Eretz Yisrael Faithful Movement event held at the Menachem Begin Heritage Center in Jerusalem, Ynet reported.
Glick is reportedly in serious but stable condition in a Jerusalem hospital with chest and abdominal wounds. Doctors reportedly said he will have to undergo an additional surgery this morning.
People are asked to pray for the speedy recovery of Yehuda Yehoshua ben Rivka Ita Breinda.
The suspect who was shot and killed is reportedly Mu'taz Hijazi of East Jerusalem, a Palestinian who was a former security prisoner. He was reportedly killed in a shootout with Yamam, an elite Border Guard counter-terrorism unit.
Glick was shot at point blank range by a man riding a motorcycle believed to be Hijazi. Glick had reportedly received several death threats before the shooting.
Police have reportedly recovered the motorcycle and the weapon used in the assassination attempt and have arrested a person who allegedly aided Hijazi. This person is alse a Palestinian who is a former security prisoner in Israel. Both men are reportedly members of the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization.
The event Glick was shot at was called “Israel Returns to the Temple Mount.” It was reportedly attended by right-wing members of Knesset, including Deputy Religious Services Minister Rabbi Eli Ben Dahan, MK Moshe Feiglin and MK Miri Regev. Among the notable right-wing activists who attended were Hagai Ben Artzi, the brother-in-law of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In response to the assassination attempt, police have closed the Temple Mount to Arabs, Jews and tourists until further notice to prevent rioting and other violence there.

Well done to the security forces for their quick work. The terrorist decided to commit "suicide by cop". I hope he enjoys his 72 virgins and they all look like Yassir Arafat.

And no doubt the AP will headline it: "Israelis kill another Arab"

I suppose a thought of lament for yet another loss of transparency and due process did not occur to you (whether it was 'justifiable execution' or not).
Nor did it probably occur to you that maybe the security forces should have done some "quick work" BEFORE the shooting. Effective security prevents things - there is nothing in the definition of "security" that entails blowing up your main suspect on the basis of "oh yeah, it was probably him."

A live prisoner ... and evidence! That's a start. So the jihadists are taking a lesson out of the Zionist crime-hit handbook. I hope there is an open trial.

The dead suspect worked at the Begin centers restaurant. This despite his having spent a decade in prison for terrorist attacks.

WTF is a "security prisoner"

A security prisoner is someone convicted of a terrorist or terror-related crime.

Huh? You're kidding, right. What are you, ISIS?

Not meaning to insult you, but by my calculation you're probably an under-educated right-wing moron with a small dick.
How on earth is the call for due process representative of the values of ISIS? Are you so lost?

Small dick, well, you may be right there.
ISIS because you're assuming that there was a chance for due process with this terrorist. You're making anti-Israel assumptions and implying that this gentleman was ready to be arrested and submit to due process.
Undereducated... Not quite... Been to more school than you , guaranteed.
See the number of terrorists getting advanced education degrees in Israeli prisons and how they kid-glove handle many terrorists and then free them in exchanges & you'll see that Israel has plenty of due process going on. But when a terrorist comes out shooting and you whine, well, ...maybe you're not ISIS but my calculation you're a pseudo intellectual left winger who thinks you're educated

Lo K'darkah . . . you do realize that this appeal to a tempered, reasonable and rational approach to governing and policing will never do.
Ours is a time of extreme fear and stress. Moved by media sensationalism and the want of a means to capture and hold their audience's and readers' attention.
Requesting a calm and thoughtful approach to any perceived situation of threat in this time period we live in is like in trying to quell the frenzied swarming of worker bees whose nest has been disturbed. Some one's going to pay regardless of innocence or guilt.
just think of it as our most primal instinct.

And let's not confuse good police work in the investigation of a murder with the investigation of a terrorist murder taking place in a time of war

It's possible, but that would mean you've written at least three PhDs. We can go man to man on that one till the last drop of testosterone, and right now I'm still fairly confident that if I ate your intellectual insides for breakfast, I would still have room for at least two waffles.
you're a pseudo intellectual left winger who thinks you're educated

Perhaps I am, at that. Since first witnessing the unbelievable stupidity of collective and discriminatory oppression, in a taxi just outside Hebron in 1980 on my return to Jerusalem from Beit Hadassah, I have often felt that our treatment of the indigenous populations of Palestine/transJordan has, at many times, not seemed worthy of the Jewish People. Make of that what you will, but your thoughtless comparison of my remarks regarding due process (which is really about a cultural shift required on the part of Israeli society), to a violent and utterly reprehensible manifestation of evil whose very existence as a terror organisation is predicated upon the shock value of violently confronting due process (even much of the Muslim world is appalled) was puzzling in the extreme.
Maybe it's time for you to revisit that fabulous education of yours. On the subject of Jewish values, allow me to recommend a very influential book you might want to start with. It's called the Torah. On the subject of due process, I suggest you read the same book.

Well written, but ווי לדור שככה לו וחבל על דאבדין. I sincerely hope that humanity is good enough to overcome itself, because it has such great potential.

Ok, Lo K'darkah...you're clearly a smart, educated guy...
still a little unclear on what you're talking about.... A known terrorist who plowed into innocent civilians is surrounded by police, and, instead of giving up, comes out firing.....and is killed...and you object?

The “Boston Strong” meme has been echoed by marathon supporters on t-shirts, stickers, and press-on tattoos. But is the strength of Boston defined by overwhelming security and a lack of privacy? Is altering our way of life and diminishing our freedom a win for Americans or a win for the “terrorists”?
