mark Levin-
Sadly most Haredim can't get good paying jobs due to lack of education , A little bit more of even basic education would help a lot,
Its in their own interest more than anyone elses,
Most haredim are ready for some change in this regard
Posted by: water | September 04, 2014 at 11:00 PM
This is a good start. If the Charedim can't meet basic educational standards their schools SHOULD be closed. It's "One law for everyone" not "We are the center of the universe. We don't have to obey goyishe laws."

So unusual. You copied and pasted. The hour must have been late. Normally you rewrite as thought it is your own except with some little credit slipped in somewhere. Either way the same cheap "journalism" from a cheap hack.

Unless you have permission from the JC this is probably a breach of copyright.
As to the school?shut down all these crappy breeding grounds for ignorance, superstition and wasted lives.

mark Lewin; chag smeach and pray hard you need to do this and the rebbe's followers will pray for you as well. to bad education is being touted as baseless.

It amazes me that some people are not ashamed to demand that Haredim should get special exemption from the law.

There is no way the school will close down. There are a good few thousand children in such schools in the area. Some of course in unregistered schools in dingy basements.
This school has made a huge building as have others so has caught the attention of the authorities. The person mentioned in the article is the head of belz which has a much bigger school. Satmar is also a lot bigger. They have chosen the very smallest school to have a go at.
They know that to place thousands of children in public schools at a moments notice is impossible. So they will gain nothing by closing them all down. They will all go underground (in basements).
The only way to go ahead would be to stop benefits which they all live on to people who dont send their children to proper schools. That would do the trick at a stroke.
The school will win in the end.

What is to stop this Talmud Torah appealing to delay closure and then reopening as a new school under new ownership to force the department of education to go through the process of inspection again?
Inspection regimes operate on the basis that the customer expects a proper standard of service and if warned by inspectors that the establishment does not provide that service, the customer would walk away. So if I was about to enter a restaurant but see a food safety certificate on its door telling me that rat feces were found in the food preparation area, I would turn around and walk away.
The UK school inspection works on the assumption that parents would keep their children away for a particular school if only they knew how bad it was. This works with normal people but not with religious fundamentalists such as Vishnitz. A normal person would no more deny his child a education then eat rat feces, and the School Inspection Regime works on this basis. However Charidim are not normal. For them the fact that the school is bad is a cause for celebration and the UK School Inspection regime proves useless in these circumstances in the same way that a Food Safety Inspection regime will not work for those people who do not care if their food is contaminated by rat feces.
You need different methods to deal with fundamentalists. Perhaps there should be a requirement that the head teacher (as well as a set proportion of teachers) must be academically qualified at Diploma level and that the curriculum and timetable must be first approved to ensure adequate secular teaching.

Now let's see if the British authorities can crack down on extremist madrassahs in the same manner.

And viznnitz is one of the better ones,
It's up to the government to start saving the
Yidishe kinder because the yiden don't
Posted by: the truth | September 05, 2014 at 08:28 AM
They usually have an absent woman 'principal' who is qualified.
A school has to be officially registered so they cant just close and open under another name.
I once asked a principal with a diploma and degree how they get away with it.
He told me he says look across the road is that school any better than ours.
They replied well those are coloured immigrants what can you expect from them. So he answered the chasidim are just as bad if not worse.
These viznitz chasidim have played it wrongly. They should have said the same and they would be left alone. But they dont want to be treated as coloured immigrants so they have to pay the price.

the truth--"It's up to the government to start saving the
Yidishe kinder because the yiden don't"
You cannot be more right, the biggest enemy of yidishe kinder are the rabbis and teachers who pretend they know better whats good for them.

Go after the parents for child abuse/neglect re not providing education and administration and staff for contempt of court.
anyone who opposes closing this down and not providing a decent education is a fool andn even worse.
Posted by: old time brooklyn | September 05, 2014 at 09:49 AM
Hopefully, more will follow. For a child not to be provided a proper education that will allow him or her to function in the modern world is nothing less than child abuse.
