Two Chabad Yeshiva Students Arrested For Alleged Alcohol-Fueled Hate Crime Assault
Shmarya Rosenberg • FailedMessiah.com
At about 7:00 pm Saturday, two “heavily intoxicated” loud and disruptive 20-year-old Chabad yeshiva students, both Israelis, were walking in Crown Heights, Brooklyn not far from Chabad headquarters when an off-duty African-American auxiliary police officer asked them to quiet down, Crown Heights dot info reported.
What happened next is still supposedly unclear, but the confrontation turned physical and a brawl ensued.
A “large number” of police responded, and the two drunk Chabad yeshiva students were reportedly arrested and charged with assault.
The alleged victim reportedly claims the two drunk Chabad yeshiva students used racial slurs as they attacked him, and the case has been taken over by the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Unit – even though Crown Heights dot info claims that “several witnesses at the scene – both Jewish and African-American – say they didn’t hear any such slur.”
Because of the severity of the crime, Chabad fixers were unable to spring the two yeshiva students from custody, and the pair will reportedly be held in a cell in the NYPD’s central booking until they appear before a judge – which might not happen until after Labor Day on Tuesday.
In a similar incident the week before, a Chabad yeshiva student was reportedly arrested on Shabbat for public intoxication after he had what Crown Heights dot info called “a heated exchange between him and two police officers on patrol.”
Chabad has a widespread problem with alcohol abuse, and it is not unusual to find 14- and 15-year-old Chabad yeshiva students who are already heavy drinkers.
Chabad uses vodka – called “mashka” in Chabad parlance – to induce openness to religious teachings and to foster bonding to the organization. It is given a special place in Chabad’s religious doctrine, and is used extensively during formal and informal Chabad hasidic religious gatherings called farbrengens, although during farbrengens that are advertised and to which the general public is invited to attend, alcohol use is generally limited.
But during the frequent, mostly closed farbrengens inside Chabad yeshivas, and during the informal farbrengens individual Chabad followers host, alcohol use and abuse is widespread.
Chabad is responsible for this crazy behavior because they booze kids up on 'moshke' /VODKA.iT IS TIME TO WAKE UP AND BAN this crazy life style. They do this on college campuses as well.

not unusual to find 14-15 year old heavy drinkers? what are you talking about? where did you find them. I lived in Crown Heights for a long time and I can't agree to this statement because it doesn't reflect the reality there.

A Yid, you are either a liar or a blind fool. Although in recent years some of the mesivta level yeshivos have policies strictly limiting alcohol, the boys still manage to get plenty of it and the use shouldn't be limited, it should be banned. There are no restrictions once they reach Zal which begins at the equivalent of 12th grade.

A Yid, simple question, did you go through the Lubavitch schooling process? If not, then maybe you hang around other normal, sober people with healthy pastimes that don't involve alchohol and drugs.
Kids will readily grab onto anything illicit stupid Rabbis will allow them.

It's very unusual to find a visibly drunk 14-15 year old on a street in Crown Heights.
Where have you seen them? Are they only visible to special people like Shmaryah?

when the Lubavitcher hordes march into my neighborhood on Simchas Torah, we often see dozens of young Lubavitcher kids (usually, but not always, Israelis) who are dead drunk. It is such a chillul hashem. The local Jews wish they would stay home, but it's hopeless.

I believe under New York State law, it is illegal to give alcohol to minors unless you're the parent. Let's see if anyone is prosecuted for that.

I went to several many years ago with a friend who was involved (I passed lol) and the vodka flowed and around the corner the reefer was going strong as well - personally I preferred the reefer.

In clicking through the article above, I was struck by the last paragraph:
"CrownHeights.info would like to take this opportunity to remind members of our community that heavy intoxication and alcohol abuse are serious issues that cannot be taken lightly. If Bochurim are guests at your home or Shul, please ensure that they are over the legal age of 21, and that they drink responsibly."
Perhaps there is hope after all.

Probably got drunk thinking the parade with half naked women was Sunday.

@A - if only they had marketed the parade the way Sharpton's thing was marketed by the media

Well, when you combine institutionalized alcoholism with the view that the African-American police officer was a "lower being", exactly what result did you expect?

I loved this comment from the crownheights.info page:
"Always a puddle of vomit on corner of Albany and Union, Shabbos afternoon…"
---
That's wonderful. They lose it in a 5 minute walk from 770. .02 miles.... LOL.
It really captures the spirit of Chabad.
Of course, on the bright side, every puke is a potential miracle.
You never know when the RebbeHaMelechHaMoshiach might appear in the splash.
Sort of like those Virgin Mary sightings in grilled cheese sandwiches and pancakes.

Every Shabbos is like St. Patrick's Day in CH.

There's probably one guy who pukes out the liquor he drinks in shul before getting home every week. That's a good hobby for a Lubavitcher.
