Tens of thousands of people from all corners of the Zionist Orthodox and haredi communities, as well as Jerusalem's secular mayor Nir Barkat, attended the funeral of Rabbi Avrohom Wallis, the young haredi father-of-six killed in today’s excavator terror attack in Jerusalem.

According to a report in the haredi news website Behadrei Haredim, leading haredi rabbis spoke, including Rabbi Yitzchok Tuvia Weiss, the head of Edah Haredit; Rabbi David Schmidl, chairman of the reportedly extortionist haredi graves protection organization Atra Kadisha Wallis worked for (and which is linked to Edah Haredit); and Wallis’ rebbe, the Toldos Aharon Rebbe, who spoke live by phone from the resort In Austria where he is vacationing.

Wallis’ father-in-law Rabbi Yaakov Tzvi Chanon, a member of the fanatically anti-Zionist Mishkenot Haro’im sect also spoke.

Wallis’ oldest son, who is only 5-years-old, recited Kaddish as many of the crowd wept.

Wallis was buried on the Mount of Olives under heavy police protection.

Meanwhile, the Kotel (Western Wall) was nearly deserted tonight due to the security situation.

The Kotel’s official state-appointed haredi rabbi, Shmuel Rabinowitz, was upset.

"It hurts to see [the Kotel deserted on Tisha B’Av]. Even if it was expected, the situation reflects the grief and devastation and being chased by enemies.…We must not let them interfere with our spiritual lives,” Rabinowitz said.

The soldier shot in Jerusalem’s second terror attack Monday is reportedly hospitalized at Hadassah Hospital fighting for his life. He was shot, allegedly by an Arab terrorist on a motorcycle, while hitchhiking near an Arab neighborhood of Jerusalem.
