Report: NYC To Propose New Regulation On Haredi Mouth-To-Penis Circumcision Sucking "Soon"

The Daily News has an article about the two new New York City cases of herpes transmitted by metzitzah b'peh (MBP), the direct mouth-to-bleeding-penis sucking done by haredi mohels after removing a baby's foreskin. The Daily News notes that only one set of parents was coopering with the New York City's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and the city only knows who one of the two mohels is. 

…The city’s inability to prevent the babies from becoming ill, and to identify the mohels who might be responsible, underscores a weakness of the 2012 regulation, which was supposed to represent a balance between safeguarding newborns and protecting religious freedom.

City officials said they hope to propose a new regulation soon.

One Orthodox leader in Brooklyn told the Daily News that rabbis have offered to identify the unknown mohel involved in one of the new herpes cases and let an unbiased medical team test him to determine if there’s a link to the sick baby.

This represents a change in the community's approach, and could represent a breakthrough in developing a new policy.

Rabbi Avrohom Cohn, 86, chairman of the American Board of Ritual Circumcision, said the incidence of new herpes cases in babies is rare — about one or two a year. And he claimed that those cases cannot be definitely linked to oral suction circumcision.

“There are much more people slipping on a banana peel,” he said. “We should outlaw banana peels.”

What the Daily News does not report is that any 'solution' the de Blasio administration proposes will very likely be bogus, because de Blasio promised Satmar that he would end the city's current informed consent requirement when he was elected, and clearly would have done so if not for one very inconvenient video of de Blasio and Satmar on this issue.

A few dead babies and who knows how many sick ones is no match for Satmar's bloc votes and Agudah leaders' money.

I have a solution to MBP: Arrest every mohel practicing this and send them to prison as child molesters. Put them on general population. Guaranteed, within a week there will be no more MBP.
