According to a report in the New York Daily News, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has convened the grand jury in Brooklyn Supreme Court to investigate possible criminal charges against former Brooklyn District Attorney Charles J. Hynes and some of his office staff.
A New York City investigative report has already found that Hynes allegedly misused hundreds of thousands of dollars of taxpayers' money to pay for campaign staff and to give cronies no-work jobs.
Federal law enforcement is said to be conducting an investigation into Hynes, as well.
While in office, Hynes allegedly had agreements with haredi rabbis that led to his office covering up haredi child sex abuse cases and protecting alleged haredi pedophiles and spousal abusers.
