Israel’s State Comptroller To Investigate Possible War Crimes

Israel’s State Comptroller Yosef Shapira has just launched an investigation into the decision-making process and oversight mechanisms Israel’s political and military leadership used before and during the Gaza War. Shapira, who announced his decision to investigate today, said he had received dozens of complaints and inquiries regarding the IDF’s conduct in Gaza.

Israel’s State Comptroller Yosef Shapira has just launched an investigation into the decision-making process and oversight mechanisms Israel’s political and military leadership used before and during the Gaza War, Ha’aretz reported. Shapira, who announced his decision to investigate today, said he had received dozens of complaints and inquiries regarding the IDF’s conduct in Gaza.

The UN is also investigating whether Israel committed war crimes during the war.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could order his own separate investigative commission into the war, but he has already made several statements ridiculing such investigations and the UN and claiming Israel is completely blameless.

Human rights organizations first approached Israel’s Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein about oversight of the IDF’s conduct in the war, but Weinstein reportedly responded that legal and proportionate attacks that follow international law can unintentionally harm civilians and civilian their property.

Human rights organizations then asked Weinstein to set up an independent oversight mechanism to look into the war’s decision making.

Weinstein refused, claiming oversight mechanisms already exist within the IDF and the Justice Ministry. He also promised that any complaint about the IDF’s conduct in war would be appropriately addressed through them.

This refusal to provide independent oversight apparently led to the State Comptroller Shapira’s decision to launch an investigation.

Shapira said his investigation would be done keeping in mind international law, previous rulings of Israel’s Supreme Court, and the conclusions of prior official commissions – including a commission that looked at the oversight mechanisms Israel has to deal with complaints of violations of the international laws of war which also set guidelines the government and IDF were supposed to follow.

Shapira is also investigating how the IDF dealt with the threat of attacks from Hamas terror tunnels in the run-up to the war.

His office is also investigating the lack of bomb shelters and missile warning sirens in Israeli Bedouin villages. He launched that investigation after two Israeli Bedouin girls were injured in a rocket attack from Gaza early in war. That investigation will also look into better protection and warning systems for all communities located near Israel’s border with Gaza.

I'm glad israel is being smart and doing this chess move.

If Israel was to get warcrimes, people Bibi would be arrested and there'd be warcrime trials. Do they expect everyone here to support these guys when victims are giving testimony and traitors start to snitch on Israel. No.. We cant support that.

These few politicians people made these descisions on their own to attack in this method behind closed doors. A bunch of kids and mothers got killed. That might be forgivable if there was PURPOSE behind all this. But the lives all went to waste.

Here's an example:

-1.7 million people in Gaza.
-30,000 'Hamas' militants.
-Israel killed 200 Hamas militants. Yes. 200.
-Hamas killed about 60 Israel troops.

All Gazan remain and have not been exiled to Egypt. Essentially NOTHING HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED!!

All israel has to show for this are innocent civilians killed like one girl about 10 years old who lost both her parents, her siblings, and she's paralized from the neck down for life. There is no folklore here the UN are directly in the hospitals verifying this.

And does Israel think the diaspara during trial time is going to pump our fists supporting this blot in our history?? Lets hope they AVOID warcrimes and play chess properly.

Because this time around, Jews will say 'hey man those guys did that on their own not me' and wash their hands of it if war trials happen. People will defect, it will be horrible to live through.
