Haredi "Carnivals Alert!"
Carnivals staged by local Monsey haredi charities to raise money are immodest, a haredi letter-writer says, because they allow children above the age of three of different genders to stand next to each other while playing carnival games. Monsey needs to have carnivals with separate hours for each gender, the letter-writer insists.
In haredi newspapers and shoppers like the Monsey Community Connections, where the following letter can be found in the 8-7 to 8-14-2014 issue on page 124, anonymous letters like this are frequently written by the newspaper's own editor and are meant to "repair" a "breach" in the community's morals.

We are an עם קדוש!
Therefore, instead of carnivals, where the parents will be watching their einicklack, send them boys to mikvahs & yeshivas without parental supervision and the girls overseas to seminaries in Israel again without parents.;-)

Yes, rather than letting children go to carnivals and have FUN put the boys under the charge of rabbis and let them "learn" and let's hope nothing else bad happens.

Since the adults have impure thoughts about children, the assume that youngsters have them too?
How does a 3 year old have knowledge about the birds and bees?

isn't it meant as a joke?

Haredism is a synonym for "Fucking Idiots".

We are already aware of the rabbinical edict which states that fun in Judaism is not enjoyable.

First of all thei issue for this particular "letter writer" was that there were kids over bar/bas mitzvah at this carnival (Not 3 years old that was a reference to schools) second of all are they hurting anyone by wanting this life style why does it bother you so much. I have a Christian friend who told me in public school he never studied a word it was all about "boy-girl happenings" that's why he sent his kids to same sex private schools.

I don't have the time to write a full parody of "June is Bustin' Out All Over"(Rogers & Hammerstein from 'Carousel')
Here's the chorus of "Fun is Causin' Kids to Intermingle"
Fun is bustin’ out all over
The sex is getting’ so intense
Carnal knowledge is so creepy
And the kids are getting bawdy
Against a carnival there’s no defense
Because it’s fun

Do you really need to hold a carnival when your everyday life is a circus?

The problem with mixed carnivals all comes because there is no mechitza in the yichud rooms. That people aren't careful of keeping the chosson unfettered from exposure to a strange lady on the holiest night of his personal life (not to step on the holiest of all nights when we celebrate the Rebbes' salvation from prison, war, or lawsuits) this is what leads to mixed shopping, elevator rides and carnivals.
